PULLING UP STAKES

Paul is pulling the coracle basket out of the ground. You can see how far those willow stakes had to be forced into the ground. Normally the coracle would be left with a barn door on top of it for a few weeks to allow the bottom to flatten out but we did not have time.

 ADJUSTING THE SEAT BOARD

Paul is tightening the ropes holding the seat in place so that the basket sides will not spring apart. Next he will trim off the nasty looking spikes so he can put the covering on. You can see the lovely curve of the basket form.

 CORACLE COVERING

To fit the heavy fabric around the coracle basket it is laid out on the ground. Starting at the corners the fabric is pulled up and over and held in place with large clothes pegs.

 MEASURING UP

Ankaret is checking to see that she has enough fabric to cover her coracle.
